Sona Okegawa Precision Forgings Limited (SOPL)
is leveraging its proprietary precision forgings technology
(originating from its joint venture partner Mitsubishi
Materials Corporation, Japan) to meet the demands of
the automotive industry. The precision forged product
offerings of SOPL have improved strength and is extremely
cost competitive versus other technologies.
Precision forging technology was developed by Mitsubishi
Materials Corporation at the Okegawa plant in Japan
in 1965 (earlier established in 1944 for manufacture
of metal alloys). Precision forging enables mass production
at lower costs and allows high design flexibility by
the equipment manufacturer. Conventional precision die
forging have continued to expand through the introduction
of new alloys such as nickel, cobalt and titanium.
SOPL's customers include TATA Motors, Mahindra &
Mahindra (Passenger Cars and Farm Equipment Business),
Maruti, Eicher Tractors, Punjab Tractors, as well as
its partner Mitsubishi Materials Corporation, Japan.
The company commenced supplies in march 2004 for a prestigious
overseas customer in the USA.
SOPL's state-of-the-art manufacturing facility is backed
by highly qualified operators and with complete inspection
and testing equipment. Sona Okegawa has also has full
access to the R & D facility of Mitsubishi Materials
Corporation.
With financial and technological support from Mitsubishi,
Sona Okegawa is the present market leader in precision
forging technology for differential bevel gears in India.
